All FC&MCC Members,
The Fredericksburg Classic & Muscle Car Club pulled off another good show and everyone was very pleased and happy with all aspects of the show. Vendors did very well and we want to thank all that came out and supported not only our club but the vendors. I did not have a chance to meet with them all but I am sure that some of our members checked on them. The weather was very nice and Gary was super with calling off all sponsors and the kind of car and person's name. We had special drawing for the member plaques and gave out plaques to five members. I am not sure how much money we took in but know it was a good amount so we should be able to help several needy families this Christmas.
We gave out some special plaques to members; Ernest & Merrill Bareford received one for Members of the Year, Kim Sinclair received Harold (Pop) Memorial plaque, Ray Bohlayer received the Scott Kitts Memorial plaque, and Paul Bickel received a plaque for getting the most sponsors. These are just some of our hard working members that we are grateful for.
I want to let members know how the club was started. It was started in 1995 by some very Classic Car nuts and members that wanted to help the community in which they lived. We have kept that tradition, and the money that we collect stays in our area. When the club was started, only members with certain American cars and 20 year old cars were allowed in our shows. How things have changed over time. We now let the newer cars into our club and we have no limits on our cruise or show.
Scott Kitts was one of the first members of our club and did most of the work getting the first show together at the VABBQ, and I cannot remember how many cars there were but he did let in a Little Blue BAJA BUG and he got a trophy thanks to a good friend Ernest. We became friends of Scott and I personally was very impressed with the way he ran the club. He would stop any member from doing something that would hurt the club. You could also talk to him about any problem that you had with the club and he would understand. VABBQ asked our club to take over the cruise and it seemed that none of the members wanted to get too involved so Scott and Pop went to talk to Rick (the owner) and we started the cruise. This is our 8th year and it has grown to be the talk of Fredericksburg.
As our club continues to grow we really need to make sure new members feel welcome. We are thankful to all members that show up each week. I have heard that the cruise is not fun anymore. We need to make it fun and think of others. People come not only to show their cars and help with our projects but also to see what is going on with other shows and getting info from others for their cars. So let’s make it fun for everyone.
Regards,
Sue
